Chronic Pain

The definition of chronic pain is any pain lasting longer than 12 weeks. Most of us will experience pain at some point in our lives, however, chronic pain is different. Chronic pain can last weeks, months or even years, putting a strain on day-to-day activities and mental health.

The causes of chronic pain are often from past traumas (car accidents, slip and falls, sporting injuries), arthritis or pain disorders that have a neurological component. Pain itself is not normal for anyone to experience. Pain is the indicator letting you know something is wrong, like the check engine light in your car.

Many times, people suffering from chronic pain will complain of neck pain, mid back pain, low back pain, headaches/migraines, knee pain, elbow pain or muscle pain. These symptoms will usually persist as a dull, achy, burning, sharp, or throbbing sensation. For many sufferers describe it as annoying and frustrating.

For many individuals who have sought medical attention with no results, we encourage you to make an appointment with your chiropractor.
A Doctor of Chiropractic is trained and licensed in the diagnosis of chronic pain and can determine the underlying cause of the pain. A treatment plan can include: chiropractic manipulative therapy, physical therapy, diet, nutrition and home recommendations.
Here at Orlando City Health and Wellness, our doctors are trained to offer a non-surgical and drug-free approach to chronic pain symptoms.
